Hey all

Looking for a good hex or non-hex set of rules that can accomodate 20+ planes at a time.

Thanks!!

Two sets I can recommend are Air War C21 by Wessex Games:

Also there is Fox Two Reheat by A&A Games:
aandagames.co.uk/foxtwo.htm

Both are designed for non-hex maps.IMHO,AWC21 is the easier to learn and play, but FTR has more "chrome";for larger numbers of planes then Air War C21 is probably the way to go.Oh yeah, both are also written (in whole or in part) by David Manley, whom writes great wargame rules for air+naval wargaming.

Airwar C21, that'll do the job. Wessex Games puts it out. There's supposed to be a 2nd Edition coming out, at best later this year.

Another vote for Air War C21, although I would hang fire for the 2nd edition, as I believe it's pretty much finished, and just waiting on Steve Blease having time to proofread and typeset it.

another vote for C21, I own FTR but it's a bit heavier. with C21 you grab some planes, or do a scenarii and you play. rules are good and fun, you can handle with it quickly once you have memorised the turn system.

and yeah wait the 2nd edition that may step out soon.

Mach speed Hunters is pretty good.

Another excellent system is Phantoms, which is a modern version of the Avalon Hill game Mustangs. It is available for free on the Yahoo Air Pirates group or here along with the ground attack supplement for Vietnam called Intruders:
wfhgs.com/downloads.html
Our group has been able to use anywhere from 10-20 jets in a single game with flak, SAMs, etc…, and everyone has had a good time. Best of all, the rules are professionaly done(at the link above) and are free!

Dom are you going to be handling some of their sales through your site? also by chance would you have access to Fox two Reheat.

Ray; no definite plans re; Air War C21, but whenever it does get released I suspect I shall ask about stocking it. As for Fox Two Reheat, no joy I'm afraid; I occasionally buy from A&A at shows, but just as a common or garden punter; Fox Two Reheat isn't one that I use (I like bigger games) but I'm rather enamoured of their new "Bulldogs Away" missile boat rules.

(If PDF's any good to you, you can get Fox Two Reheat from wargaming online: link )

Thanks for the info Dom. I'll probably order Fox Two on line. I'll wait and see as to what you're doing in regards to C21.
