>"What does "frag" mean?"< I think it has something to do with Muppets. Mine admire me because I can make all the horses trot in step. |

donlowry 28 Jun 2006 1:56 p.m. PST >"What does "frag" mean?"< *NJH: It's killing the commander. Normally some incompetent idiot that keeps getting people killed. Are you the Lowry of "Grand Army" Rules from the early 70s? |

Recent usage of "frag" arose out of the 1334 crowd of Doom, Quake, etc., ad nauseum players. It's also the name of a tabletop game by SJG based on those computer games. "To kill" or "to be killed", originally by high explosives but later in any fashion involving a ranged weapon, is a general definition. "Fragged him!" or "Got fragged again." is common usage. |

>>"What does "frag" mean?"<< >"*NJH: It's killing the commander. Normally some incompetent idiot that keeps getting people killed.<" Actually I knew that — frag as in fragmentation grenade, as in roll one under the lieutenant's bunk in the middle of the night, sans pin. >"Are you the Lowry of "Grand Army" Rules from the early 70s?"< I am he. |

Of course they love me. They do everything I ask of them and in 36 years of gaming I havent heard one word of complaint. |

I don't care what they think of me as long as I have their fear! I have a long history of suicidal charges which 67.59999% of the time actually work. |

When I paint my figures be it troops, tanks, ships or anything else, you could say that i'm giving them life. So if that's the case then my figures would have to call me GOD since i gave them life, that;s how i see it. Captain Gideon |

"What legal redress do I have for this paint job. Surely consumer protection applies" or "if you hate getting handled and pushed all over the tabletop, and want to be excused from the battle early, here is the general for you" or "What idiot assembles an army this size without a supply train". |

My Drill instructor really liked me. Yes he did! It was interesting when I became a company commander, my Drill instructor was my 1stSgt! I think he remembered me due to the look on his face. Oddly, the same look I see on the faces of my lead soldiers. |

donlowry 29 Jun 2006 4:46 p.m. PST >"Are you the Lowry of "Grand Army" Rules from the early 70s?"< I am he. *NJH: Just thought you might like to know I bought the rules from Pete Rice when he still had the store in Bath, ME (circa 1976). I had a chance to game with Pete Rice et al in Maine and it was a real hoot. Prior to gaming with Pete and the Bath, ME crowd I wasn't nearly as avid an ACW gamer/collector as afterwards. Pete's 128 Volume set of the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion was positively inspiring. BTW – I still have the rules, although I haven't played them in a couple decades. I thought them quite a nice set of rules. |
