On the subject of tunnels, check out H P Lovecraft "The Lurking Fear".

I think Reaper has an underground earth terror type mini that might work well.

Guys, I stumbled across some of these on the HLBS site from their "Dead Reckoning" horror range. They look awesome:

Here's 3 Reaper figures that would work well:

Have one of the Stalker Bio constructs HLBC and its a lovely figure. Thought it slightly resembled the creature in Hellboy, which is the reason I got it for my Graven Image Hellboy figures.
Thanks B6 for the Reaper links have to agree on the last one being the best of the bunch. Just finished a small squad of Vietnam special forces. Decided to throw caution to the wind and start on yet another project, Weird Wars Vietnam. What with my alternative/occult/1946 figures from Graven I'll be painting and in debt for the rest of my life.
If your into zombies and in particular 40mm, HLBC's are lovely figures and a joy to paint. It seems that the 40mm bug as bitten deep in me.
Just visited Sash and Saber and their bringing out Plains Wars figures in 40mm. Must resist, must resist, must resist.

This movie, which is not great in execution but has great ideas, could be harvested, for a good game.

Also easily adaptable to Pulp-era games, with the nice twist that the Allies and NOT the Central powers are messing with things man (at least white men) should not know.

Cool. Thanks Mysterioso.

Gothic, I've gotten a few of Jim Bowen's figures (I'm a HUGE fan) over the last year and a bit. All of the cowboys, some "Earth Team" figures and Emissary Guard, and a few figures from his newer sci-fi range. 40mm is a great size for painting for sure. I had to resist the Weird War stuff as I'd be in debt forever buying that stuff, but I do keep telling myself "someday" and I know I mean that. Heck, his Dystopia, Viking and Gangster range are enough to keep me happy forever. :) Anyway, the Chiltern Nam minis are a good compromise. Still Bowen style, bigger than your usual 28mm and not as expensive as 40mm.

I'm suprised no one has started, or mentioned starting a Weird Wars Vietnam Yahoo Group. That usually always happens when there's THIS MUCH interest.

Hi Everyone

B6 what are the Emissary Guard figures like in the flesh (metal)? I have Jim's Stargate set of 4 figs which are great, and have considered the above figures for a future purchase.

But then there's the Planet of the Apes figures and like you, the Dark Age, Gangsters and Dystopia look to be tempting ranges. The wild west stuff is nice. Haven't got any, but have seen some painted up and they were lovely.

I thought there was a Yahoo group or is that my imagination or just wishful thinking.

I've decided to use Chilterns figures for my Weird War Vietnam stuff. They are nice figures and painted up really easy. I had loads of them based up and undercoated but no further. This whole discussion has got me painting like mad. Just have to get a few unearthly enemies.oh and yes paint some VC.
