I see that ScaleCreep brought out a new 15mm ACW line. It looks good so far. What other 15mm/20mm miniatures would you recommend to build a civil war army with? IYO, best Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery etc. Thanks

Mind if I plug my side-by-side reviews web site? I'll be adding my own to the line up soon, but for now it ocvers most of the other ranges:

Mark (Extra Crispy's) site is a great resourse to help you make a decision from! Minifigs, Musket and Stone Mountain all are compatable. That fact might be of some significance since it is 3 companies that are close enough in size/stature to mix and match.

My all-time favorite artisticaly was the Heritage Confederette Line but, as they have been out of production for many years, it may be impossible to find any. They were true 15s and very atmospheric. In terms of value for money I would go for Old Glory 15s. They have a good variety of uniform and pose and are relatively cheap.

I also enjoy the Battle Honors ACW, very nice.

AB is probably the best, IMHO.

Well there you go, Bob! Seven votes for what people claim are "their" favorites! For 15mm ACW, it's one of those periods where you have a very wide choice!

Guess what? We are all right!

Good luck on your choice!

I am just getting started, but I have really enjoyed the minis I have bought from musket miniatures.

AB or Battlehonours.

they both have one thing in common ;-)

Stone Mountian, Musket, Mini-Figs and Heritage all mix well!
As Heritage is long gone{sad} the other three should add
'charm' to any table.

To Extra Crispy:

Do you mind if I send you a small quantity of my Battlestandard Miniatures 15mm ACW to include in your side by side analysis? You may be pleasantly surprised!!

Hello Lou:

I'd be delighted. Drop me a line at extracrispy@deepfriedhappymice.com I'm planning on an update to those pages in the next few weeks!

I have just recieved some of the new Peter Pig sculpts and they are nice to paint and have loads of character. Highly recommend them. Check them out on their site ……

I too would recommend the new Peter Pig figures, slightly larger then their old range and therfore more compatible with other 15mm ranges. Although listed as either Union or Confederate the figures can easily be used for both sides ( I am using the rebs figures to build a Union western army ). Still awaiting the cavalry re moulds.

Arrrggghhh. Don sees Lou's note a mere 48 hours after publishing the ACW Artillery review.

Such is life. Luckily it was before we did the infantry. I've sent an email.

I also highly recommend Mark's site, good stuff there.

Don.

Have a look at LKM I have them and Battle Honours. Herecticaly I prefer the former. Peter Pig are good too.

Humm Extra Crispy has had 2 years to review and paint up a few Scale Creep, and Battle Standard figures, he must paint slower than I! :P

Too bad I wanted to see his review of them.

" too would recommend the new Peter Pig figures, slightly larger then their old range and therfore more compatible with other 15mm ranges. "

Any idea how they compare in size to Battle Honours?
Cheers

Any thoughts on Stone Mountain Cav figures, or for that matters the best cav?

bgbboogie15 Nov 2008 9:31 a.m. PST

peter pig very nice fugures, minifiga are also good all from the uk

Shootmenow16 Nov 2008 4:44 p.m. PST

I vote for the Piggies…the only figures that do an authentic Rebel Squeal when they attack!

ACW Gamer14 May 2009 2:49 p.m. PST

Its been a while since anyone posted to this thread…is there any thing new on the 15mm front? Did Battlestandard go out of business?

Is scale creep going to expand the line?
