I would like to game some Vampires vs Werewolves type stuff and am trying to think what a good set of rules would be?

maybe a LotR variant. There's a yahoo group showing great promise; already host a LotOW Vampires variant in the files section.

Werewolves wouldn't be hard to add.

The Roadkill rules from WestWind deal with Vampires, Werewolves and Humans in a post-apocalyptic world. They are based on Chaos in Cairo which uses the goal system mechanic (4+ on d6 for success, roll # of d6 = to attribute +/- any modifiers). There are skills and attributes available, some of which the wolfies and vamps must have to distinguish them from humans.

CR2 from Two Hour Wargames (THW) would also be a good choice. While they don't deal with the subject directly, they are geared toward modern firefights and are highly adaptable. The very active THW Yahoo group has several rules variants for werewolves and vampires. There is a free CR2 Dog Soldiers introductory game available from the THW website which will give you a good idea of the mechanics.

Forgot to mention .45 Adventures. While geared toward pulp, they are releasing a weird WWII variant next month that will include zombies and werewolves if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if anyone has developed a vampire archetype for it yet.

THW chain reaction or ATZ will work with a few tweaks for the wolfmen, on the yahoo group there is a dog soilder THW game to try well worth it.

Combat Zone and .45 Adventure are good options.

Personally I would use Inquisitor, give a real good action movie feal, plus, it's free!

Chain Reaction 2.0 is designed with this sort of thing in mind, though you'll have to come up with your own vampire and werewolf rules. (There are werewolf rules in the free "Dog Soldiers" download, and probably some vampire rules floating around the yahoo group.

Have you thought about Savage Worlds Showdown?

The Rippers War supplement seems just about right.

You can take it for a test drive by downloading the rules, PDF link , and the unit cards from Rippers war , PDF link

I'd be inclined to try one of the superhero systems – might be able to tailor the characters better.

We Can Be Heroes is a good game with a real heroic feel to it.

Vampire: The Masquerade or Werewolf: The Apocalypse from White Wolf. Those game systems and their world background more or less inspired the creators of the "Underworld" movies. I believe there was a court case about it.

According to White Wolf's Wikipedia article, those games were republished in 2003 as "The New World of Darkness", with a different word after the subtitles.

Jeez—The White Wolf RPG is trying to take credit for Underworld? That's ridiculous. Maybe Bram Stoker or Lord Byron should sue White Wolf for intellectual copyright infringement?

Would agree with using Super System. Used the 1 ed for a gangster game at Partizan and worked well, have just bought the pdf of the 2ed and they have more powers and vehicles.

Me & a mate are releasing a set of horror rules at the end of the year. So hang on in there.

Finnished them.

Try Occult Wars.
