A friend of mine who does anime also has an interest in older US cartoons, and was watching a DVD of Underdog episodes. I quickly became engrossed. I had forgotten how much I loved this show. Never really cared for Simon Bar Sinister, for the same reason I don't like Lex Luthor. The mad scientist as villain just doesn't appeal to me. However, I used to love Riff Raff, as well as a couple of minor villains. Notably underdog's nemesis Overcat, and the cloud creatures who stole silver, because every cloud must have a silver lining. You? |

LOL. I had not thought of Underdog in years. Used to love that show. Named a dog after him when I was 6. Favorite episode? When Simon Bar Sinister created the Vacuum Gun. I still remember the the tag line
"Simon Says, Come Here!"
to this day. I will have to find copy of the series for my children. Got the theme song stuck in my head now. Wish I could remember all the words

Stanza 1: Played before any Bar Sinister episode: when criminals in this world appear and break the laws that they should fear and frighten all who see or hear the cry goes up both far and near for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Stanza 2: Played before any RiffRaff episode: when in this world the headlines read of those whose hearts are filled with greed who rob and steal from those who need to right this wrong with blinding speed goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!
I think there is a Third Stanza for OverCat, but I can't prove it
..and of couse, the Chorus: Speed of Lightning, Roar of Thunder fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog. Underdog! |

LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL! Though far too young to barely remember re-runs, love the other famous phrase of Charlie Cox; "There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!" Must also get DVD, nwohiogamer . . . estimate wife to crack-up upon request, and might even try to show a few episodes to some of the older gamers to see if get same response. Now what was that in Underdog's ring? |

My lord, that's a classic. I loved that show in re-runs and miss it dearly. If it's on DVD I'll have to get it. |

Wally Cox did the voice of Underdog. Does the DVD also include episodes of Tennessee Tuxedo? Voiced by our favorite Spy and USMC Drill Instructor, Don Adams

I saw them first-run as a kid, caught the reruns over the years, and bought the DVDs as soon as they became available. Second only to Jonny Quest, to me. I'm partial to Simon Bar Sinister, for several reasons: Great name, great voice (I did a great impression of him when I was 8; at least the other kids thought so), and some great catch-phrases. Chaosforge, I love the Vacuum Gun episode, too. Like you, I can still hear that evil, "Simon says, come here!" And Sweet Polly Purebred – grrrrowwwwllll! I'll have to raise a glass to Wally Cox later today. |

chalkboy8 "What's the one where the criminal kept saying "Just in Case."" I don't remember the title, but Riff had brought along this shadowy figure in a cloak. When his allies asked him what the guy was there for, Riff kept saying "He is for just in case." The guy turned out to be a witch doctor, who used his powers to control Underdog in some way. |
