I was doing some reading, and came across something that I thought was kind of funny…

The masion in Zardoz and Frankerfurter's House in "The Rock Horror Picture Show" are the same house…

It was also used in MAN Hammer films from englad during the 60s, 70s and 80s. Vincent Price loved it as a venue for many films, including one of my Favorites: "Bloodbath at the House of Death" in which Vincent is cast as simply "The Sinister Man"

I was going to say both featured two respected actors dressed in fetish clothing….. ;->

Both movies demonstrate how totally tasteless society can be? ( Oo )

These are good, I've got to write them down.

Zardoz, 105 minutes
Rocky 100 minutes

Maybe the 240 minutes includes the drive to the video store and back…

nah, he spent 35 minutes replaying the worst scenes thinking "come on, it couldn't have been that bad… maybe I missed something"

Patrick FL30 Apr 2006 6:10 p.m. PST

Ahh, but Rocky Horror at least lacks the pretension of being a "serious" film.

Patrick FL30 Apr 2006 6:12 p.m. PST

Now we just need to come up with a set of cult things to do while watching Zardoz. Maybe throwing guns into the audience during the flying head scene? Yelling something clever during the infamous "Zed shotputs the girl" scene?

Zardoz virgins anyone?

Goldwyrm30 Apr 2006 6:31 p.m. PST

Never saw Zardoz.

Saw Rocky Horror 3 times…….too many, so that makes up for not seeing Zardoz. Why you ask? Girl chasing in highschool.

I was just 7 hours old… truly beautiful to behold! Rose tint my world etc, etc

I had my grandfather's old black tail coat I used to wear with a wig and nylons when we used to hurl beer bottles through the screen…

It used to be regularly shown on weekends at midnight at a local artsy fartsy place (the LSPU HAll). Often, of course, people coming just to see the movie would get angry at those of us yelling at Brad and Janet and the narrator. But one time, this older fellow in the front row (probably in his 40s) with his wife got so irritated, he got up walked over to where the light switch was and turned it on and started yelling at us, telling us to grow up.

No one was expecting this and a hush fell over the audience.

(Note, our usual admonishment of Brad was to call him an obscene word for the rectal muscle).

In a second or two, emboldened by my costume, I stood up in the back in my ridiculous get up pointed at him and started yelling the insults we usually reserved for Brad.

The man, now seeing some of the kooky costumes and then this rather tall thick lad standing up and hurling insults at him ("shut up you Bleeped texting Bleeped text hole"!!!) looked quite taken aback and rather frightened. Others started hurling their toast at him and squirting him with water. His wife screamed and he grabbed her and they ran out….

We resumed yelling insanely at the screen….

Anyone know of any Rocky Horror minis out there?

Zephyr130 Apr 2006 10:19 p.m. PST

Sounds like it's not too late to make Zardoz a film with a cult following…. :p

Broadsword01 May 2006 5:22 a.m. PST

Hmm. Throwing guns made out of toast? Do the vote vogue! Everybody meditate at second level! Renegade Romp! Now where can we get some of those funky mood rings…

Judas Iscariot01 May 2006 8:14 a.m. PST

Ehem… Zardoz DOES already have a Cult Following, and is among the regular Cult movies that are shown in Houston.

I do not know about miniatures for Rocky Horror, but you can get Rocky Horror Action figres in various sizes (From small Star Wars figure size, to big 2ft tall dolls)

Covert Walrus03 May 2006 7:55 p.m. PST

Damn, Judas, you seppos have all the fun.

They don't even have regular "Clockwork Orange" screenings in this town, the largest in NZ, any more, and it's harder and harder to find cult movies at all.

Sorry to be negative, but I would rather be truthful tahn positive.
