Hello all,
I'm contemplating on buying this three booklet series and would have liked to know if anyone have seen it and what you think about it ? Don't know the author, but the books should be about 60 pages each.
Thanks in advance.

I prefer Pengal books

I personally think they are great. Excellent source for uniform information. Particularly good for beginners. No history, just information.

But be warned it is not a professionally produced book. It was done on a word processor (the earlier versions were done on typwriter) with some very crude line drawings. But none-the-less an excellent painters resource.

Yours,
Brian Homenick.

William Biles is the author.

I like them because they're handy- most of the information is collected in tables so its easy to reference while painting. I would, however, also have a full color reference available- though this could be as simple as a website with good photos of someone else's painted figures. It helps with things like which bag is the bread bag and other things that are easier to see than read about.

Hello.
Thank you all for your advice. I had thought to use it mostly for the minor states and as a cross reference .
I think it contains quite a lot 'bang for the buck' for the price . If I will still feel uncertanity about an issue, I will always have this wonderful resource .
Thanks again.

Bill Biles used Pengel and Hurt, among other sources, for his books. I find them easier to use than P&H, which is not organized very well. Bill boils things down to the essentials. I still use these books today, particularly for cross referencing other sources or if I'm starting a new army in this period.

Be forewarned. Only two of the three volumes have been updated. The volume with Russia and the Reichsarmee is still the old typewritten version.

I concur with Alte Fritz's assessment that they are much easier to use than the Pengel and Hurt books, which are (though they contain much more information) organizational nightmares.

Thanks Alte Fritz and firstva79. I'm waiting for my shipment from Caliver books.
