I have the WAB Shieldwall supplement, but doubt that early dogs assisting Ice Age humans were as large or as powerful as the hound breeds that existed in the Dark Ages (or were they?).

For example, page 63 has the warhounds as follows:

M6 WS4 BS0 S3 T3 W1 I3 A1 Ld3

Any ideas, comments or insight? Thanks.

Weren't the first dogs just wolf pups raised as part of their new (human) pack? If so, they would be very large, since wolves are very large.

If that is the case, then does anyone know what are the stats for wolves? Thanks.

WHFB would have them.

Fantastic Emu2020!

In your opinion, should early "domesticated" dogs have the same stats as wolves?

What would you change (if anything)?

Well, the movement of 9 reflects fully independent movement, and maybe a bit on the high side as it's sustained, while a movement of 6 is something to move along with the infantry. So adjust the movement to whatever you think is their tactical purpose. WS should probably be kept at 3, as a formed and armed human unit should have no major difficulties dealing with them, yet unarmed, confused and ambushed humans would be in major trouble.

Actually, the movement of 9 reflects their role in WHFB. They're mounts (goblins ride them), and (when unridden) used as cheap substitutes for fast cavalry.

I think the profile you choose will depend on the role they'll play in your game.

And just to confuse the issue, here are the Mordheim wardogs (from memory):

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
6 3 3 4 3 1 3 1 5
