Well my bronze Gallic Helm (if I owned one) is off to Allen. This is by far the best WAB supplement period! WOW!
Not only does this book provide one of the best concise discriptions of the Punic Wars I have read, but it is a model of information on how to go about getting into miniature wargaming. Add to that all the excellent historical scenarios and comprehensive army lists and this is a must have for anyone who plays WAB, or is into this era, or is into ancient wargaming. Fantastic color pictures of painted armies and over all a flawless product.

I am even one of those guilty of basing all my Light Infantry on 25mm bases and Allen's arguments have me rethinking this on my next 28 mm WAB army. Of course this will not help me with the Punic army I am working on collecting at Cold Wars as I will be doing that one in 15mm. But I'll be looking at the Crusader 28 mm Republican Romans for future consideration.

Great job Allen. Till now Shieldwall was the best WAB supplement in my opinion. Well it is still a very close second. Now can we have an update on the Parthians and the later Macedonians please?

Thanks for your kind words, Kim. Shieldwall is still right up there in my opinion!

I agree with whitemanticore, I love this supplement and this and Jeff's Alexander supplement are really great books. I'm just waiting now for the succesors supplement and my time-frame of interest will be pretty much covered.

Thanks Allen for all your time and effort (I know from WABlist that it was a long haul to get it finished)

Tim..

I'm with you 100% Kim. The supplement is fantastic and I've bought a number of the books Allen recommends in his bibliography to learn the period. The best book so far.

Yes. An excellent supplement. Writing is great, and production standards very high. You raised the bar again Allen & Rob.

Another plus from the book is I did know that Gripping Beast had such an excellent line of figures for this period. If I still can make it to Cold Wars I will be giving these a look. I believe Old Glory carries the line at their area in the Dealers Hall.

Here Here. Congratulations Allen

Well done for persevering through the bad times even when you felt like you'd had enough. The end product is a masterpiece.

I Look forward to the "Rise of Rome" Supplement. ;)

I second all above. I have purchased three copies and given two away as an introduction to the Era. I think this is perhaps the best intro to the Punic Wars for a wargamer one can find. And I do not play Warhammer Ancients. I love the era (my all time favorite) but have never played the rules. I use to give out Livy or Polybius or Duncan Head's Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars but the first two are dry and the third impossible to get now. This supplement is perhaps one of the best "eye" candy treatments of the era and very well written. I highly recommend it.
