Any company planning to make Narnia figs in 25mm or 54mm size? I have a friend's b-day coming up and thought she would like to paint these. She already is collecting the micky-d's happy meal figs and was disappointed that the beaver fig was not wearing any armour. I have been trying to lure her to "The Dark Side" and get her into miniatures

Seems like most of the stuff in that movie could easily be represented by miniatures already on the market
maybe not precisely (especially the ice queen)
but it would be no big deal to assemble a 'Narnian' army. |

A lot of the Confrontation minis from Rackham would look good – they certainly make the best centaur minis I've seen. Not Narnia specific though; don't think anyone makes these at the moment. |

The children might be the hardest figures to find, although there are some good Viking child sculpts done by Old Glory, Dixon, and Foundry, IIRC. You might be able to represent the older children with 15mm or true 25mm figures. For example, the Thunderbolt Mountain Arthurian knights are true 25mm with separate weapons, and a few of those are bare-headed. (Although none has a short haircut.) You could use one of those as Peter. There's also a squire that might make a nice Edmund. The best part, each figure is available either mounted or on foot. Some of the old Ral Partha true 25mm AD&D minis would make good kids in 28mm, too. |

Given where the IP control sits for Narnia, anything in pewter is likely to be limited to large scale "collectibles". I expect to see *nothing* licensed into our hobby. |

I agree, Gypsy, I think the licensees probably consider wargaming too "dark sided" for their tastes. |

Andrea Miniatures has a few Narnia figures out/planned – They are 54mm picture and link |

I guess I could put together a cast of characters from the different lines you guys have listed, but I believe a beaver in armour is what will seal the deal with my friend. Were there not other animals in armour too? Saw the movie but can not remember. |

Hasslefree has pack of three kids, link , two of these might be good for Lucy and Edmund. Both Reaper and Crocodile Games do nice lions that could be done as Aslan. |

"I believe a beaver in armour is what will seal the deal" Haven't seen Narnia yet, but I second the previous suggestions of the Confrontation range. They have nice poses, and quite an assortment of chainmail bikini figures. |

autos da fe, I believe he meant the animal known as a beaver
not the other sort which might be found in a chainmail bikini! |

Has he seen the armored mice from the Quactica line at L&L? |

"Were there not other animals in armour too?" In the movie, I don't believe there were any "real" animals in armor. The only armor wearers were the part-man creatures (like satyrs, centaurs, dwarves, fauns) or monster types (minotaurs, etc.). The "real" animals like tigers, leopards, birds, beavers, etc. were armor-less. I think the centaurs, dwarves, minotaurs and other baddies would not be difficult to find, but fauns and saytr's in armor might be tougher. |

TeutonicTexan, You are mostly correct, though Mr. Beaver did have on chainmail for the battle. Why him or why only him I cannot say. |

I saw a Narnia boardgame at either Barnes and Nobles or Borders; which had 25mmish scale metal minis of all 4 brats. A bigger problem is where do you get all cheetahs, tigers, lions, beavers and satyrs to make Narnia armies. |
CooperSteveatWork | 30 Dec 2005 3:25 a.m. PST |
Satyrs are a doddle. Some in the film looked like GW beastmen or broo (had trouble adjusting to these being the good guys!) Thanks for the Andrea link, like the idea of adding something Narnia related to my daughter's embryonic miniatures collection! |
Mrs Pumblechook | 30 Dec 2005 2:01 p.m. PST |
Those Andrea miniatures are amazing. the closest representation of particular characters I think I have seen. Edmund is so Edmund its scary. But I want a Lucy too, not the same without Lucy. |
