For the last couple months they have been putting various lines up for sale at 50% off. Although years ago I had sworn off this sad excuse for a company, I couldn't resist and bought a bunch of Dwarf Wars, Fenryl, Celtos, and Chronopia stuff during their sales. Everything arrived just fine, quite surprising!!! Last night I checked their website and all Warmachine and Confrontation was 50% off. I made a list of things I was thinking about ordering and took a look this morning and got the above message. I was starting to suspect something was going on when they were basically putting all their lines up for sale! Anyone have any addition info? Did all the complaints to the BBB finally pay off?

Isn't/wasn't coolminiornot.com run by the same people? Cool mini is still up so it may just be temporary.

Well I live semi close to them and I cant get them to return phone calls…Im not risking any money if they cant be bothered to answer phone calls

jizbrand29 Dec 2005 8:30 a.m. PST

Try newwavegames.com

It worked for me, anyway.

DontFearDareaper Fezian29 Dec 2005 8:35 a.m. PST

I just tried the link to NewWave and sadly it came right up. Must have been a temporary glitch or they "forgot" to pay thier web host till they cut off the service ;-)

TBeyer29 Dec 2005 8:42 a.m. PST

JIZBRAND, thanks you are correct! Sorry for the false alarm everyone. Now I have to debate if I actually want to order from them again!

nazrat29 Dec 2005 8:51 a.m. PST

Brave man, that Beyer fellow… 8)=

Chuckaroobob29 Dec 2005 8:56 a.m. PST

They had my cash for a year before finally coughing up the backordered items. That was the only time I ordered from them. Vaya con Dios, Beyer!

coopman29 Dec 2005 9:17 a.m. PST

He's got more money than brains…

cloudcaptain29 Dec 2005 9:26 a.m. PST

Before you order…just go actually look at the bbb.org entry for them. That will change your mind.

SBminisguy29 Dec 2005 9:55 a.m. PST

What Chuckabob said…I ordered a bunch of DP9 minis from them, long-time no-show. I disputed the charges off of my credit card, and then started getting nasty grams from Newwave about not paying for minis they never delivered….odd behavior…never ordered from them again.

TBeyer29 Dec 2005 10:05 a.m. PST

I had the same experience several years ago back when they carried GW stuff – ordered a ton of figures that never showed, fortunately I had put it on my credit card, so after a couple months with no replies to emails, calling them up (phone mailbox is always full), etc I was able to have my credit card company reverse the charges. I swore off of them at that time and only ordered stuff last month during their 50% off sale – and was prepared with all the documentation to have my credit card company reverse charges again if there were any problems. Fortunately it came thru – got some good deals! But with them selling off all their lines (looks like Reaper is about the last line they haven't put on sale) I am wondering if this is a going-out-of-business sale or just a clearing-ouot-inventory sale.

Comes up fine on my browser (IE).

By the way, for all the negative pub about New Wave, you've got to admit their miniatures preview galleries are worth a visit.

Cosmotiger29 Dec 2005 10:51 a.m. PST

Allow me to quote from the NW website: "if an item is sold out, you will not be charged."

ROFL, that's a good one!

DontFearDareaper Fezian29 Dec 2005 11:12 a.m. PST

I think their definition of "sold out" differs radically from ours ;-)

I could be wrong, but I do believe we are witnessing a "going out of business sale", at least on their stock of miniature games. The RPG, boardgames, paints and hobby supply parts of the store seem normal. The links to the CCG and Model Kits parts of the store are dead, though.

Anyway, take a look at the stocked items left for some of the lines, like Warzone or even Warmachine. In some cases it's real bare bones. Definitely doesn't look like they are just clearing out extra stock. If that was the case, why would the listings for the rest of the items be gone? IIRC from when the Warstore re-did their interface, Neal said it was a real pain to upload all the items into the storefront.

Anyway, must resist…

I do agree that their galleries were a fine feature, and that their event coverage was second-to-none for a while.

I recently ordered from New Wave before I realized their history. & while they sent me an incomplete order & didn't return any of my emails or phone calls, they did only charge me for what they sent, & they gave me a reduced rate on their quoted shipping. I ordered 5 packs & they only sent me 1, I'm guessing because that's all they had in stock (no note in the shipment to say so though). Shipping should have been $8.50, but they only charged me $2. USD Certainly not suggesting anyone order from them, but other than my interaction wasn't too bad (& probably very lucky).

Grumpy Monkey29 Dec 2005 12:11 p.m. PST

I am told that they have this sale every year after Christmas. Basically to clear out their inventory. Sorry guys they are not going out of business

daburton29 Dec 2005 12:39 p.m. PST

I've said this for years and I'll say it again. In the dozens of times I have ordered from Newwave, I have never had an order not arrive. Now Im not making light that some people may truly have not gotten their stuff…or even a lot of people. But for myself, I have never had a problem with them.

NightskyWildfire29 Dec 2005 12:51 p.m. PST

they still owe me $35 USD worth of stuff…..NEVER AGAIN. A$$-holes.

Rogzombie Fezian29 Dec 2005 1:15 p.m. PST

Read the sale guys, they are eliminating these items from their inventory, it is not an inventory reduction sale. They will no longer be carrying these lines.

I heard that Doust is streamlining his business model and concentrating more on other things. Look at the items not being liquidated along the side, the only major player left is reaper.

Despite the fact that it is new wave it is still a sad commentary on how the market is shrinking. It most likely has nothing to do with his customer service and everything to do with the state of the industry.

nazrat29 Dec 2005 1:36 p.m. PST

"By the way, for all the negative pub about New Wave, you've got to admit their miniatures preview galleries are worth a visit."

That's ALL they are good for! But at least it's SOMETHING…

Warlok31 Dec 2005 7:52 a.m. PST

Or it may have something to do with lawyers and the Georgia Attorney General.

Iamagambit08 Jan 2006 9:03 p.m. PST

I placed two orders with New Wave over three months ago, paying one by credit card and one by PayPal. Neither order was filled completely, although I was charged in full for both orders. I have repeatedly emailed the CEO, the addresses listed on their website for the company (info, sales, and another I no longer recall) plus the email address that received the payment via PayPal. No response. Ever. It's outright theft. Anyone considering ordering from New Wave may as well just leave a stack of cash on the porch. You won't find any miniatures on the porch once your cash has blown away, but at least your money won't end up in the hands of thieves.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer09 Jan 2006 12:32 p.m. PST

Can't someone your side of the pond just go and beat the living hell out of them, perhaps kneecap them or something? Or just go and burn their premises down? If I had ordered from a company like that and had a story like some of the horror ones re-told here I would try and find a way to turn up in person, with at least a baseball bat and have a 'quiet word' with them.

Daryl G09 Jan 2006 5:21 p.m. PST

yeah….all these pee'd off people and yet no ones given him a good kicking at any convention? (thought it was the Brits who complain rather than take action)

bunn2750816 Jan 2006 9:38 a.m. PST

Newwave continues to be in business even though there are ons of complaints filed against them. I think that they may be going unde based on all the liquidation sales that they are promoteing. I would just like to get the VOID boxed set i ordered from them. I would settle for a refund as well. I have contacted them via email and voice mail. I learned a valuable lesson from this though. I will check here before I attempt to buy from another online retailer again.

Crunchy Frog23 May 2006 3:08 p.m. PST

Let's HOPE they are going out of business!! They ripped me off the only time I dealt with them. Does anyone have more info? Someone local perhaps?
