So, what I find frustrating about 3d printing is the various answers you get asking those who do 3d print.

I'm trying to play some Star Wars gaming in 15mm and I'm finding it difficult to get things going.

For instance, I've been told by many who do 3d print that FDM printed minis in 15mm scale look horrible, yet just today I see a post on another message board of someone showing pictures of their 3d FDM printed 15mm stormtroopers….and I'm like, HELL I'd have no problem using those.

With regards to resin printing many have told me downscaling Legion scale stls to 15mm is near impossible as they have to take all supports and resupport the file.

I did some research and found that this is in fact true. However, most stl creators sell supported and unsupported files, and unsupported files are much easier to downscale, add supports and off you go. No one who sells 3d prints bothered to mention this.

So, I've come to realize that when folks who 3d print for profit tell you it can't be done or its a really big pain in the a$$, they are full of Sh*t (well, likely, but not all). They just don't want to do it.

So, either I find someone (locally or not) who is willing to take my project on, or I jump into the 3d printing world.

Fortunately for us, two of the guys in the group are avid 3-D printers – they did some 20mm WWII softskins for me as well as some SYW 28mm Prussian artillery – both turned out very well

So far I have only scaled up my stl files and this has worked very well by using the auto support function in the slicing software. I was a little intimidated at first but things were actually pretty easy to get started on my Saturn 4 Ultra.
