Just some observations, based on some recent experiences.

Had one fellow tell me he's leaving TMP to post on other hobby forums. He likes to get into political discussions on TMP, and frequently feels that he is treated unfairly when he is Dawghoused for breaking forum rules.

I pointed out to him that those other forums won't let him post politics AT ALL, and he said he was planning to post hobby-related things there.

I suggested that perhaps he should avoid those boards on TMP which upset him, and focus on posting to more hobby-related boards on TMP. That didn't go over well.

Another member just told me he's walking away from TMP, says he's tired of putting up with people from other countries. Again, I wonder why he simply doesn't avoid those parts of TMP where he gets offended.

Please remember that you can control your TMP experience. Nobody is making you click on those parts of the forum where you might be offended. The forum is actively moderated, and we take action on complaints as quick as we can, but no moderator is going to please everyone, and the TMP community has repeatedly voted to establish the current forum rules.

The thing about "politics" is that one will ALWAYS feel that his own opinion is unfairly treated, and that those opposing views are idiotic.
One word of advice is to avoid "ultramodern warfare" entirely. Unfortunately, that is nearly impossible for me! I am right and they are wrong! 🙄

Dear Editor is correct. Name just one HOBBY forum/site that will tolerate political discussion. I'm on another site where we brag about being gentlemen. One obnoxious person was removed, as I recall.
I know that's not what he wants to hear, since I realize that MY opinion is far more important than anyone else's. 🙄

BUT if you don't want to see what those morons who disagree with you have written, here are a few suggestions.
1. Turn off Ultramodern Warfare.
2. Stifle the idiots whose opinions are so loathsome and unforgivably incorrect.
3. Ignore them, should they wantonly wish to start a topic with their imbecile opinions.

For 2 and 3, simply click on their names, and scroll to the bottom.
For 1, go the Board, scroll down and tick what you don't wish to see. Then scroll down and tick APPLY.
Like I said above, this doesn't address your own wish to shove your own opinions down everyone else's throats, but it will turn down the level of having to deal with those so obviously incorrect.
2 also deals with people you feel are stalking you, and those who you think need to adjust their meds before posting, or stay from strange vegetation.

That's what I do!
I simply stiffle those I don't wish to read and avoid one's that annoy me! (Like AI-sorry!)
cheers!

We need to support those people Bill.
Maybe they can post who they are and we can all say something nice to them to make them feel better?
It is sad that they are leaving but it may be good for their mental well being. "Just walk away and be happier" is a good maxim.
