I've read downscaling Legion minis to 15mm is doable.

Would downscaling to 20mm make it less fussy or would the issues still be the same?

Resizing is the same process either way. In my own limited experience it is done by hand and eye and far from exact. There is no place to type in "make these 20mm." You simply shrink them until they look about right.

There are several factors involved. How fine can your printer print? How detailed are the stls?

I am amazed at the detail I am getting with my Anycubic P1. The improvements that have happened in 3 years has made the prints incredible. They were good on my old resin printer but so much better now.

If you stl files are really detailed at full size, then it is possible that reducing them by 50 or 60% is going to make them too busy. Only way to know is to try.

You have to opposite problem when increasing the size. figures that print fine at 15mm can lose the detail they have when making them 28mm.

Also I do not recommend multi part figures at anything below 28mm. Heads are bad, the rest of the body is worse. Way to small to try and assemble.

Yeah, even at 28mm the multipart are hard to assemble.

First, I do not own a printer, but I have a few local guys who have printed me some fine minis.

A lot of the Star Wars Legion stls are multi-part and even with my limited knowledge, they are for sure not going to work if I want to downscale.

I'm just going to have to buy some lesser expensive Legion size stls and have the local guys give it a go and see what happens.

There is enough epic scale stls (6mm) out there that can be upscaled to 15mm that will give me a good game. Most of it is Clone Wars stuff.
