My thread on why modular terrain is not popular made me think about it in a more detailed way. I realised I have options I almost never use and I'm not quite sure why.

My basic modular terrain is Hexon II with about 4" hex and slopes. I use 2 hex slopes almost exclusively, my hills are in increments of 2 hex so about 23mm tall with 12mm(ish) figures. enough to hide almost any tank. However the system can be used 1 hex high so about 11mm tall, given that a man is on a base about shoulder height. Not enough to hide a tank. I do have suitable 1 hex high slopes so It is a viable option which I never invoke. I suspect it adds realism but makes terrain analysis harder, you have to look at terrain that may shelter foot form sight but not tanks. That means agreeing rules that if the troops bend down and move they cannot be seen but similarly not shoot. They could be Hull down for tanks. writing this it seems daft I don't do it but that is the reality for whatever reason.

Similarly I have specialist hex's to make ridge lines 4" wide with a steep top, not the standard 12(ish) top. I have them but do not use them. To be fair this function can be achieved in small lengths by a vac formed hex "Bog Bone" but cannot be laid in an uninterrupted line. Each "dog Bone" is at base level all round. Perhaps I have yet to dream up a scenario where this is key to the attack defence.

So do you have Modular terrain you could use but don't or virtually never do? If so what?
