I was hoping to find information on the standard for the Talmont regiment of French cavalry. I used AI chat to no avail. Cheers! Gallo |

Do you mean the 13e Royale Pologne whose colonel was P de Talmont from 1733 to 1744? If so, their standard is in the Moulliard plates and the one you want is here:

Hello BillyNM, I am researching the French regiment Talmont that was at the battle of Ekeren in 1703. The mestre de camp: "from 30 March 1693: Frédéric-Guillaume de La Trémouille, Prince de Talmont". My thanks for the information you provided but I am looking for the WSS French cavalry standard. Cheers!

this one comes from Thianges raised in 1665 then Florensac 1674 then Talmont 1693 disbanded/merged in Royal Roussillon in 1761 for Mouillard's plates it should be 36th rank Turenne then Grammont since 1735 according to Abregé de la Carte générale du militaire de France it had then 6 yellow silk standards, a sun in the middle, embroidered in gold and fringed with gold but it was 30 years later under another Mestre de Camp… |

Hi Lilian, Thank you for that. The color yellow is associated with mastre de camp Frédéric-Guillaume de La Trémouille's family coat of arms. I know that in 1705 the regiment passed to another La Tremouille family member, Charles-Louis Bretagne, Duc de La Trémouille (and in 1709, Prince de Tarente) He held that position till 1719. My source here is Kronoskaf (WSS Project) Cheers!

I have found an image of the Talmont regiment standard for WSS on a war game blog. They show a Yellow flag with the sun of Louis XIV on the obverse side, and the reverse shows a coat of arms in the center of a yellow field. Cheers!
