There'll be a mob of around 170 when it's all said and done.

Great job. Every once in a while I think about making a peasant army. Funny that you mention all of the drab colors in "Uprising" -- I took my daughter to see it and she said that the peasants did not have enough color in their clothing.

Really looking forward to seeing the whole mob.

RE: Uprising, I have heard the same thing (drab colors). As a matter of fact, the reviewer pointed out that even the royalty was drab. He said if you really wanted to do the whole class warfare thing the least you could do is make the king and his retainers look over regal for contrast to the peasants.

And colours are like spices – during medieval times options were very limited (for spices – salt, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon and that's pretty much it) – the vivid colours of today were in limited supply (the decision to put the infantry of Austria and Ancien Regime France in white was largely to avoid the cost of dyes)

Which, however, has not prevented me from painting my knights in bright red and glowing yellow!

Great job on the painting, but their clothes are too clean to be really revolting. They probably don't even smell all that bad.
