Cruel Seas are 1/300 and 1/350, anyone putting a Colony class on the table at that scale? Anybody out there that won't go bigger than 1/6000? What's your largest scale for naval games?

1/600th @ 1/700th scale Warships for Fletcher Pratt Naval wargame. We used a Collage Ballroom for fighting area.

1/900 scale for naval engagements

15mm or roughly 1/100 scale for colonial wargaming where gunboats and small sailboats support and battle

Not sure of the scale but it was Destroyers and Troop ships that were about 10-14" long for games I put on. We have gamed the colonial era with a myriad of ships the measured from around 6" long (very small powered ship) to almost 30" for a large protected cruiser. The models for those games were all made by Bob Duncan, well over 30 ships.

1:56 scale for pirate ships, so the figures can go on the ships

I suggest 1/56 or 28mm. There you go!

Ships with 15mm crews for ACW and 28mm as MM, DW, and piper909.

It depends on where you are playing with individual figures or abstract crews.

We have played with ships with 28mm figures. Both water and airship combat.

1/35th – but that's a large model if s small boat

It depends…. On the table top….
1/2400 for WW I and WW II. Age of Sail fleet actions at 1/1200.

The 1/700 ships were used on the floor, not the tabletop

I dabbled with trying to kit out a few canoes as dreadnoughts in a pond, but never got very far. And, no, no BB gun cannon fire…

Which, if HG can fling dowels and call it a game, I could have done likewise.

28/25mm – Victorian era Colonials.

25mm Victorian colonial and brown water navy in Vietnam.

Narvik 1940 on 6x15 table using 1/700 ship collection.

And my B/P ship collection for Blood & Plunder.

I've got 1:6000 (WW1), 1:1200 (Romans) and some Ral Partha cogs that might be about 1:1000 (no scale stated).

Does hybrid count? And how big is your table?

We have run a game with a 1/3000 naval combat game against an automata in synch with a ~25mm single ship damage control game. the 25mm ship is on a 10' table, which is a little small for a to-scale modern destroyer, but it works for the feel of progressive flooding, electrical patching, and screaming class alfa fires.

1/1800 for Victory at Sea but I prefer smaller running from 1/2400 to 1/6000. My FLGS supports VAS but I am really touchy about the look of scale ranges and the bigger scale ships always look too close together.
