"Zombie Pirate flesh?" Topic

OF COURSE I bought the Old Glory bag of Undead Pirates! Why would I not?

I primed them with Camouflage Khaki spray, and then put them away.

But now I "need" to finish them. I suppose after many years the spray paint primer has dried… 🙄

What's your favorite color for undead zombie flesh? Hopefully a Contrast paint with a dumb 40K name on the "pot".

Generally speaking, when you encounter a zombie in real life, what color is his skin? (Without assuming gender, of course!)
Dead people are NOT Undead, so let's not go down that path.

My zombies are a greyish purple, like bruised flesh. Any open sores or exposed muscle is coagulated dried blood in color. Eyes are white and the pupils have faded.

Honestly, if I ever encounter zombies in real life, I won't stick around long enough to worry about getting an accurate skin tone colour palette!!!

Kidding aside, I think some variables to consider are what damage have they gotten since coming back, what killed them before they came back and how long ago was that? A fresh zombie with chew marks will look different to a raised from the grave after 20+ years zombie or a zombie that has been shuffling around for 20 years.

That said, what Eumelus suggests is a certainly a good place to start.

IIRC I painted mine with Ceramcoat brand "sage", a greenish gray color. Gore as needed.

I don't actually have any zombies, but I do have draugar, which are frequently marketed as "Viking zombies." I painted them with two Reaper paints, "Ghoul skin (9148)" for the basic skin color, which I highlighted with "moldy skin (9149)." These are both shades of grey green. link

John, I usually go with a very pale pastel green, then treat as normal, but using that same pastel green as the base for highlighting. I normally would use medium brown or red wash or a mix of the two for shading.

Good luck and I think there is no wrong answer which is much of the appear of this sort of mini.

I had a similar conversation. with a GW employee at the w/e.
Any colour combos can be got away with.

Khaki base coat.
{purple, green or brown wash, maybe some pallid flesh highlights.
Jobs done.

What we both agreed on, any combo pretty much works with a zombie.
My recent horde (Mantic), included:
F foundry Granite, with green or purple washes.
Foundry Flesh D, brown, green washes
Foundry Rotting Flesh, with brown or green washes

Mix them up so they look like a shambling horde in all stages of putrefaction. As many as you can and you can't see the trees for the wood.

As for real live zombies: Gammon coloured, flushed or sunburnt red, with purple to lilac suit and accoutrements. Excessive use of standards and flags some of which they have become entangled with. The flags are often worn upside down.

I avoid any kind of zombies as they bite!

Recently dead….color would be pretty much normal for a day or three. Green later. Long dead, probably grey. I guess.
