Aspern Pontooniers
Once again, it is my pleasure to thank my good modelling friend Thomas Mischak.
He very kindly sent me some engineers from Linear A representing the bridging operations at Berezina , Russia in 1812 which I have painted up.
The originals were hero's, who immersed themselves , naked, in the freezing waters to enable the remnants of the French Army to escape. These chaps are clearly not representative but they are spot on for the engineering at Aspern.
As stated before I wish to demonstrate the significance of the Danube crossing and these figures will be most useful.
The stature of the troops seems quite large compared to my two Franznap gentleman, but no doubt hefting logs etc around would have been good for the body if not the soul! Personally I love the Linear A faces.

I will need some boats and rowers to deal with the river debris, so, lots to do.
