"Fighting The French Revolution book by Roy Harper" Topic

If anyone, like me, have suddenly found themselves getting into the earlier French Revolutionary period, this is a good book to have. For some reason I've also found myself focusing on the warfare in the Vendee, which this title covers. I was under the impression that the civilians and rebels were always outnumbered by the French Revolutionary forces, but so far, it seems to be the other way around, albeit many are armed with farm implements. But it could make for some interesting wargaming ideas, considering the actions are smaller than the usual later period battles against other countries, such as Austria and many of the actions are virtually large scale ambushes but involve mass charges. I'm only a third of the way through the book and I'm a slow reader, plus I tend to jump into a another book and read a chapter or two on a similar subject but you do come across some interesting and little known units such as the Legion-de-la-Fraternite which includes cuirassiers-legers (page 12) and the Hussards-Americains (page 16) created from freed black slaves. The title covers quite a few large and smaller scale actions and includes battlefield maps. There are some black and white photos of various buildings and towns and it would have been helpful if the title included some photos of the actual battlefields and ambush areas, which would add to the descriptions in the text.
