"PAC-3s and recent attack on Jordan" Topic

I have been reading reports that have surprised me a little.

It is reported that between 32 and 40 ballistic missiles were fired by Iran at Jordan. Reports estimate that between 3 and 4 PAC-3s were expended per inbound missile. This gave a usage of between 96 and 160 interceptors.

The reason I am surprised is that I was under the belief that typically 1-2 interceptors are used per target. 3-4 seems very high. Indeed, if one or two are fired, I am not sure that there is time to get off another couple of missiles if a kill is not confirmed.
If you are not waiting for a miss to be confirmed, that is a lot of missiles to fire at an inbound ballistic missile unless the target of the ballistic missile is extremely high value.

If they are using 3-4 missiles per inbound, that further throws off the balance between attacker and defender in a Taiwan situation.

Either the reports are totally off the mark, or we have a real problem going forward.

I was under the impression that it was generally 2-3 per incoming missile, rising to 4 if it is fast since, as you say, the change of getting another salvo away is reduced
