With my recent interest in the early French Revolutionary Wars period growing all the time, this book is a great addition. I'm constantly searching for titles covering this period, which is not as easy as searching out and obtaining titles covering the later periods, especially new books. This one, which covers the Armee des Princes (1791-1792), looks to be a great read, although, at first, I wondered where the colour prints were. However, looking through I found them, 24 pages of colour prints in fact and I've already spotted some interesting images, such as those covering the Legion de Miirabeau (Plates 22-24). One image depicts the officer with a black felt hat and sky blue turban. There are many others, although there might be a problem finding miniatures to match them. The text looks full of information and I'm looking forward to reading it. Sadly, volume 2 won't be available until next year. |
