Caught JP last night on nine.

They cut nerdy saying "Thanks Dad."

Why?

Should he have said "Thanks Person."?

Did they think Australians would think Hammond Nedrys Dad?

Do they not like Father's Day?

Was the joke to be too soon to Father's Day and some people may be offended or emotionally upset?

Does Dad now share a similar meaning to "women who get about"? So must be cut from every movie?

Are they trying to retcon it so Nedry only had mums?

Do I smell a woke prequel?

Is Nedry to be revealed to be Hammond's son and they are trying to remove a spoiler?

Gosh. JP: Jurassic Park.

In the control room. Hammond tells Nedry "I don't blame people for their mistakes, but I do ask that they pay for them."

Nedry replies, "Thanks Dad."

Hey, at least it's not removing Hawkins joke and Billy laughing from Predator, like in the 90s. For years I thought the Predator just laughed naturally. Only learnt the other day who the voice.., was. Not sure how I ever missed that. Still have to check the credits.

As with much in the current world, seeming 'insults' can be simple incompetence.

'Editing for time' can make the weirdest things happen.

Of course, I assume petulant teenagers are a near universal meme.

Another strange edit was in the first DVD (possibly from laser disc?) of Predator, when arny throws his knife and says stick around, was cut out. You just saw the guy edging behind him in the long shot, then it cut to the next scene. I rented it yonks ago. Should try to buy it.

Another TV one was a double ep of TNG when they were all chopped up and broadcast together with sections mixed together. That was a rough night.

Google ai usded this very topic to suggest people online thought it very close to Father's Day.

But it didn't turn up anything helpful as to why, first saying it didn't happen, then saying it was because of run time and ads.

Possibly they thought it a less significant line to remove.

I'm pretty sure it's the end of the algorithm (pure), so it would be interesting to see how they balanced it.
