Nice survey

I'd hedge, Stoppage. It's certainly the best we've got, and I try to respond every year. But often I feel even as I'm doing my best to answer it that I'm misrepresenting my own gaming to fit into the boxes.
Bob the old CLS player plays Napoleonics in 30mm on a size humongous table with friends two hours away. He owns a couple of thousand castings and they're all painted.
Robert the 6mm player changes period every year, mostly uses a 3' square table with one opponent less than half an hour away, has more painted castings than he can count and keeps bins of unpainted 6's in the garage just in case.

There are a couple of others--and none of this is current truth because I moved 600 miles last week.

"Primary"--a word the survey loves but never defines--is only really helpful if any one period/scale combination consumes more time and money than all the rest. Outside of the GW crowd, for how many of us is our top scale/period more than maybe 35% of time and money? (And what happens if what takes up most of our time isn't taking up most of our money?)

And year after year it asks about numbers of castings without tying the responses to scale. A gamer with 10,000 unpainted 28mm castings has real problems--and probably an alimony payment. A gamer with 10,000 unpainted 6's found a bargain in the flea market. A game with 10,000 unpainted 2's just got an order in from Irregular2and6. Time to place another.
