Interesting account. Like most English-speaking readers (I suspect), my familiarity with the War of the Spanish Succession is limited to Marlborough's battles in Germany and the Netherlands, so this has all been new and quite fascinating. I think I have some vague comprehension of what was going on in Italy, but I am going to have to do some digging to understand the fighting in Spain. Also, reading your accounts, I am starting to think such research might well be worthwhile from a wargaming standpoint with quite a few reasonable sized battles, as opposed to the huge battles of Marlborough.

Besides, there are a lot of pretty uniforms!

Thanks for your comment. Actually all the fronts were linked. Losing at Turin in September 1706, provoked in Febraury 1707 the complete retreat of the Spanish (and French) troops from Italy, trasferring the Spanish troops to Spain and gaining the suopremacy in numbers on that front. Uniforms of the period are fantastic on every front.
