"Spearheading D-day going out of print" Topic

This is not a sales plug. I make no money from this.

Some of you remember me from back in the day here. So I figured I would tip you off to the fact that after 27 years my highly respected book "Spearheading D-day" is now out of print in English. It will, however, stay in print in French, as the French seem to respect history more and some even read).

The book was named as one of the top 10 books on D-day by the Wall Street Journal. And of course in the various military hobbies it sold so well that they never really felt a need to advertise.

So I bring this to your attention as I have been advised by some book people they expect used copies to now skyrocket in price. They estimate $125 USD USD-150.

If you are interested in D-Day, I advise you to go find a copy and just look at it. Once the charts and photos draw you in, if you actually read the text you may find that parts of it are pretty good at obscure stuff no one knew 30 years ago.

It's hard to find in libraries as it alw3ays get stolen (seriously). But if you have a copy, hold on to it for a while, and if you have been thinking of getting one, do it now and save money. And thank you to everyone who has said nice things about it over the years.

Was the first place with substantial information on the ESBs, my dads unit, that I found and still one of the best sources. For that alone eternally grateful to you.

Histoire and Collections published this and they are notorious for dropping titles and, curiously NEVER re-introducing them. The result is that the prices on-line sky rocket, but they do not benefit from that. I got most of the Napoleonic titles in time.

This is due to H+C stepping back from any English language editions. They are actually keeping the French edition in print, but not the English one as they were unable to make a deal with an English language publisher.

However, if they feel they can keep selling books they will keep something in print. Just most of their titles are so limited in scope that not that people would be interested in it. So they print what they think will sell, and when sales do not look promising, they don't reprint. But SDD fell afoul of being in English.
