The 8th Virginia Regiment was authorized in December 1775 and organized between February and April 1776 at Suffolk Court House, Virginia, as one of eight rifle-equipped provincial regiments raised by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In 1777, it joined George Washington's main army, serving in the 4th Virginia Brigade under Charles Scott, and fighting in major engagements including Brandywine and Germantown in 1777 and at Monmouth in June 1778 before reassignment to the 3rd Virginia Brigade.

Another fantastic Regiment and history Peter Mulenburg's house is very close to me. Recently was refurbished and open for tours often. |
