It is fantastic artwork. Is it really Vietnam? I see no jungle boots, no helmet covers or flak jackets, Thompsons/M1 carbines/30 calibre MG, not M14s,16 or 60s and a flame thrower on a jungle patrol must be hard work! No R/T. Atypical unless very very early? Maybe Burma WWII? |

Daft thing to do though, makes you a great target. Almost as daft as a flamethrower operator on point. Does not detract from the artistic skill though. |

Now that impresses. We get so many submissions to surgical journal, where I act as an Editorial Assistant, and increasingly I am spotting text that just does nor ring true. References that are nonsense.
Wolfhag, how did you spot this? What made you check it for AI enhanced (if not more than that, even AI generated?). Genuinely interested, as of an age to be baffled by such.

I'd been messing around with the free version of ChatGPT image to create historical images. It does a poor job of minute details, that's the first clue. The vegetation did not appear to have any depth and is WAY too detailed to be done by a modeler. I'm a VN Era Grunt and this is what I noticed: ammo pouches are wrong, the rifles are unrecognizable (look a little like M14 but screwed up details), the helmets do not have the mottled green covers, can't tell what the one guy is drinking out of and it is not a canteen, some of the long sleeves have unrealistic wrinkles, carrying a red and white towel in a jungle? If the images were of a large size figure (54mm) the details would have been much more realistic. Wolfhag |

I told free ChatGPT to make the changes from my last post using only official color photographs of the VN war:
Took less than 5 minutes. Still cannot get the rifle and canteen details correct, maybe in the paid version. Did get all of the ammo pouches standardized, helmets look great, green towel, fewer wrinkles on the sleeves. Next I erased the VN soldiers and cut and pasted some images of 1/35 scale Marines in WWII and pasted them in where the VN images were. I told the AI to merge the images into the background to make it realistic. I did not edit the Marines.
