I usually try to read the first few lines of your posts in the original French, hoping (probably in vain), to keep at least a smattering of the French I learned in school. Today, the first few lines included a word I hadn't learned in school--Grognon, meaning grumpy. I am making an effort to add that one to my French vocabulary. I can see this word applying to some of my fellow TMPers. And relatives. And that guy down the street.

Weren't the French Old Guard referred to as the old "Grognards"? The old Grumblers?
