"Italeri M8/M20Armoured Car" Topic

At long last Italeri have re-released their models of the M8 and the M20 in 1/72, now both in the same box and you chose the appropriate upper works.

Great to see them back but the old faults persist. The tyres are still too small, except for post war Italian police use of course. The flash suppressor remains on the 37mm, again fine for the postwar streets of Naples or Turin, but not in WWII. Also the driver's cab still lacks the rear indentation (see my RMSM crewed model below). A straight rear is fine for the M20 of course.

But glad to see them and I have bought two boxes (plus one in the attic off E bay fora small fortune a few years ago)

I enjoyed building those models several years ago. Do they still have the optional parts for an alternative fast build version?

Indeed they do. Very clever I thought, ina very old design now. For all their faults, I am delighted to see these two reappear.

The plan (if I ever get around to it, after finishing with Waterloo in 20mm) is to open up all the hatches. Not easy, but if it goes wrong there is the spare to replace the wreck, now I have two (plus the attic version, with its resin wheels never removed from their plastic bag)

Ive a CAD'd an opened hatch replacement for the front hull and the hatches and a couple of other bits. If you want them I can pass on the stl files to you. If you dont have a printer I know a fella who would print them for you.
They are several people who print replacement wheels I have the ones from Syndicate (<https://syndikateco.wixsite.com/my-site-1> and very nice they are.

Apologies for the delayed reply. My desktop blew up (almost literally, a bang, a smell of smoke and a very hot case). My laptop is aged, but I finally am forced to use it.

The printed replacement would have been a Godsend and saved me all that drilling, but all four hatches are now open. An M20 and an M8. Wheels are on order, all 8. But really appreciate the thought!
