I recently purchased 2 pieces of felt cloth online. Both are 1x2 metres. One is pale lime green and the other is pale sand/tan colour. I can see that they both look too pristine to be convincing as terrain. So, I need to stain lots of blotchy patches of colour into them. Especially, pale mid brown patches, but maybe some other earthy shades as well. The cloths' ability to drape over hill shapes placed underneath must not be compromised by the process. I can't afford to buy a lot of spray paint cans for the job. So, to my question: should I splash on pools of diluted cold-water dye? Or would it be better to heavily dilute cheap tube craft paints or Vallejo paints and use those to splash pools onto the clothes? |

Maybe just get some cheap match pots of emulsion, dilute them and stipple it on with the end a house hold paint brush? Amazing how far a match pot will go… |
