I was at the De Montfort uni campus on Sunday for the third day of the British Historical Games Society Britcon: YouTube link This is an annual series of tournaments run from Friday to Sunday afternoon using several rule systems. Event details here: bhgs.org.uk/britcon.html If anyone is considering visiting next year's event can I point out that it is right in the middle of "Richard III country". It is only a few minutes walk from where he was found under a council car park. This is now a visitor centre and he is buried nearby in the cathedral. Just 12 minutes drive away is the unfinished castle of Kirby Muxloe, this was being built for William, Lord Hastings. When Hastings was murdered by Richard the builders just walked off the job. A further 20 minutes away is the Bosworth Battlefield visitor centre. Barry |
