There's a famous video of a "duel" between a Pershing and a Panther in Cologne in 1945. It's easy to find – there are even some colorized versions out there.
This is the story of the tank gunner and he got there. It also tells the story of a German tank crewman he fought against. Including their stories before and after that day.
There'a a lot of detail about how he suffered from PTSD (and overcame it) and som einterestsing details about civilians who were involved.
A very good read.
