Private Nathan Dankworth peeped his battered helmet above the sandbags.
"Do you think they're out there Sarge"?
Sarge Eagleburger chomped down on his huge cigar and his flint eyes stared with his thousand yard stare. "They'll be here soon enough Kid. The Greys aint the type to back down"
The Bathroom looked empty except for scattered shampoo bottles, the drip of the tap, the toothpaste tube where Private Luke "Lucky" Strike had been blown up by the mine and the smouldering toilet roll.
"Gotta focus on the mission Kid" gravelled Sarge, "We need to take the windowledge from the Greys or they'll be able to bring reinforcements in through the bath.

Dankworth loaded his Garand rifle, his hands shaky. "I'm scared Sarge".
Sarge's big paw landed on Dankworth's soldier. "Everyones scared on this mission son. Anyone who says he's not is a fool or a damn liar".
"Even you Sarge"? Said the rookie.
"Obviously not me …You calling me yellow? I'll whup your ass, you greenhorn! You just gotta take all that fear and turn it into blind unquestioning hate for the Tans."

Dankworth scratched his head. "But we started the war Sarge…we invaded them"
