So continuing my quest for my "perfect" set of rules I ran a battle with B squadron of the 1 Cav. It went very well.
If you just want to read about Capt Rainer skip the first several paragraphs of game design drivel and jump to the battle report. Found here:

Enjoy

Very interesting approach. Is your intention for a 2-player game? Or more players? NVA controlled by GM?

Agree. Very interesting. I really like your seven rules.

The seven rules are consistent with GDW's Striker (1983). I think they'll work well.

All,
Thank you for the kind words. I was afraid the post was too long. I just had such a good time with it
Pz4, it could end up being any or all of those. Right now am playing both sides solitaire as that gives me more data. I think the system will lend itself to solitaire or co op very well though. It is cool if I rocket an empty hill solo. I would be pissed if I did that playing against my opponent!
I have a defensive AI worked out already from a previous project that I can readily adapt.
OB, really?! What is up with all these sci fi games. First star grunt, now striker. How come these systems haven't been ported over?!? : )
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks again.

Joe,
Looks good to me. However, I'm still not sold on the command points but keep trying <grin>.

"How come these systems haven't been ported over?"

Because if miniature wargaming had a coat of arms, the motto would be "We Reinvent Wheels." I'm told the computer gamers are worse, but they can only be marginally so because there isn't room to be much worse.

Computer games might not be quite aimed at the same sort of user. Eg RTS shooters are very different from tabletop games and can appeal to players know zip about ww2.

There's also still a lot of panzer fans out there are totally convinced tigers were wonder weapons and Shermans zippos.

If you want to make money then you best consider your market's opinions. Ours is aimed at a particular sort appreciates NATO symbols and excellent AI. Not exactly the RTS crowd like.
