"28mm figures for Venus expedition" Topic

I want to do a game set on Venus 1880-1920. I need some 28mm human figures with some sort of breathing apparatus. I am inspired by article in Wargames Illustrated but do not like the figures with diving helmets. What else is out there?

How good's your 3D-printing? I'm visualizing "great white hunter" stuff suitable for "The Lost World" or "King Solomon's Mines," but heads with WWI gas masks.

Or, investigation could show that, at least in the Highland Regions, the air is thick and wet, but breathable. Not much point in doing VSF if we can't adjust the pseudo-science to suit ourselves.

(MY Victorian hunters are on Barsoom, looking for banths, apts, sandcats and maybe giant white apes. They report that the air is cold, thin and dry, but breathable.)

Could you glue Space Marine helmets and chopped-down jump-packs (painted bronze and perhaps with a wire or sprue hose attaching the "respirator" to the helmet) atop redcoated British troops? Older GW space marines and sprues are pretty common in flea market sell-offs.

So we have Atlantic war games, ironclad, ral partha (too expensive), Pulp, North Star. Are we missing any?

I did want to point out a LOT of Wargame Atlantic boxes have swap-able gasmask heads, even the Lizardmen, which brings to mind the idea of bringing some of the natives back to Mother Earth as fiendish slave troops.

You might put out a request for spares to add to adapt other figs. Somebody is probably swimming in heads.

Edit: I was going to point out my VSF version, which your time span includes, will use old Warzone Bauhaus plastics. I just wasn't sure how you'd feel about picklehaubs.

I don't recall it suggested in the original Space 1889, but I thought that with Britain focused on Mars, I would have Prussia and France playing the Great Game on Venus.
