There are details that historians and popular-history writers rarely address—details that gradually disappear from the historical record. Yet I lived for decades in Cavoretto, a district of Turin, and only now am I discovering the role it played, and realizing that History had unfolded just a few steps away from me—quite literally. I amended myself a little.

You definitely need to put all this wonderful information you have assembled into a book, one that I am sure many of us who like this period would buy. |

Thanks DFLange. It would be for me a real pleasure to put all these info into a book. Iasked to some publishers --- no answer at all, even just to say "we are not interested"…In any case, I am still collecting a good amount of lost and old books and old maps (I just got the map with the French units as arrayed during the siege … a unique piece):. I think I will start to prepare it, focusing just on Siege and Battle of Turin making my invetigation (now in fact I m going to have a capuccino and then I will go to Cavoretto to take some pictures of the old walls. There are printing companies that will let you self-publish. Might be worth looking into. |

Fantastic research and a wealth of useful information for wargamning purposes as well. With all this material you provided we can figure out a nice WSS wargame scenario ! Great work again, thank you for your sharing all this!

Thanks Freddy. I hope it will inspire new scenarios for nice WSS wargames. I am going to provide the OOB of the inner troops of Turin during the siege and their location (I found this on a very old book) as well as the French array during the siege (not the battle) thanks to a unique old map (dating 1706). A lot to do and maybe I will keep some info for the book to be I am going to write. |
