"Red and blue factions" Topic

Just painting up some Vikings. I have the first batch just about done (4 units for a Lion Rampant warband). Second warband primed and ready to paint.

Since I may want them to face off against each other, I plan to use different base colors. The first warband is based on red and the second will be blue.

While it planning this, I noticed that I used the same two color red/blue for my Samurai warbands.

What colors do you use in a similar situation?

I'm considering purple and green.

I haven't done quite that. I spray painted small magnets different colors (black, white, red, yellow, blue, green, orange and purple) and I can stick them to the metal fender washers my Vikings are mounted on. They were originally set up for convention games using Pig Wars so I could have six factions. I came to the convention to be told they had let in two extra people, necessitating a quick trip to the hardware store for the orange and purple paint.

Not a color thing, but I recently found myself separating my Gauls into the two traditional high school PE factions, shirts and skins, for a game.

Usually red and blue. White and black sometimes. But since it's mostly horse & musket, light units run to green, gray or brown.

Dark brown, light brown, grey, maroon, blue, dark green, and light green mostly. These are modern to far future troops.

I have quite a few medieval European miniatures, but none are painted as coherent units.

I have cavemen with dark hair and blonde.
