link Following up on the "Obscure armies" thread I googled "28mm Tlingit miniatures", purely for research purposes of course. 🙄 Coming soon? How soon?
And following that, what should I use for same period Russians, in shabby frontier clothing.
I think I have enough Yankees in whaling ships to annoy them. And what about totem poles? History?

They are apparently available now, maybe since March.
I am almost sure that there is another manufacturer, I vaguely remember hearing at convention a decade or more ago or seeing an article using figures. |

They are already out overseas. I figured out an order a few months ago and canceled it due to the cost of shipping and a possible tariff penalty. Much more affordable if Eureka USA has them in stock. I am sure that I will order some. |

Now that is an obscure army! Just read an article about the American purchase of Alaska – apparently by the time Grant purchased it the Russians had been trying to sell it for a while – when the fur trade dried up it became a huge economic burden given how hard it was to ship supplies to the Russian troops/authorities in Alaska given the very, very tenuous transport links across Siberia |

TVAG has a range of 28mm Tlingkits/Russians/Inuits that got hung up sometime back. The original rules, "Knights of The Pacific Northwest" are only needing a couple of tables completed to be ready for sale in their latest updated form. As a dependent variant of "The Sword And The Flame 20th Anniversary" edition, the problems of the last couple of years with that title have kept this portion of the project in limbo, but interested parties are invited to E-mail TVAG@att.net for details and PDF versions of the rules as they stand. Those are beautiful figures! Not that I know what I'd do with them, but they are beautiful. After the Crimean War, Russia was turning their pockets inside out, hoping to find spare change and apparently discussions were held with several countries about buying Alaska to resuscitate their finances. Curiously, one of the more interested countries was Liechtenstein. The concept of Liechtenstein (population back then about 1,900, area 62 square miles, or 160 square kilometers, and with an army of 82 men) owning Alaska (population back then roughly 11,000 and area 586,412 square miles or 1.52 million square kilometers) seems ludicrous, but if it interests you as a "what if," here is a link to a page on Liechtenstein's army link Grelber |

I love obscure armies, and I would be tempted to buy some of these if I knew where to find opponents for them. My understanding is that you need Russian fur traders as an opposition army. Where can I find 28 mm Russian fur trafers? I'm assuming there might be some Cossack figures out there that would work. But what else is out there? |

Use Brigade's "Arctic Terror" line for Russian sailors. The overcoat and flat cap will work fine. Russian opelchenie will work for civilians. Some cossacks would work as well. Russian infantry in great coat and forage cap will work for the soldiers. Civil servants wore a military style uniform. You might want to use Russian officers sans great coat in order to help tell them apart from the men. |

OFM et al, Chris Ferree's original Tlingkits, Russian hide hunters, and Aleuts (NOT "Inuits" as my fuzzy brane said yesterday) are currently available on demand, but an updated list needs to be posted or at least offered as a PDF via E-mail request. The crucial Tlingkit War Canoes, Aleut Kayaks (in three sizes), and a hide boat (Baidarka) for the Russians are already designed for 3D Resin Printing and will be offered ASAP. And, again, the dedicated rules set, "Knights of The Pacific Northwest," is virtually complete and will be available as a PDF with appropriate accessories (Action Deck, etc). In short, we provide "both sides" for skirmish games, and even the vessels you won't see from anyone else. Interested parties are, again, invited to E-mail TVAG@att.net to go on the list of those to be notified as everything FINALLY comes together. TVAG |
