"Dimler Dingo Smoke - dischargers." Topic

So the Wikipedia entry for the Dingo armoured car shows a version with smoke dischargers on a museum piece and an older picture with no smoke dischargers. Can anybody shed light on where/when smoke dischargers were fitted? Thanks in advance.

The Daimler Dingo was a scout car and distinct from the Daimler armoured car; the post title and OP mention both so I'm not sure which one you're asking about.

Various Department of Tank Design (DTD) drawings and RAC ammunition docs show no 4-inch smoke dischargers fitted to any versions of the Daimler, or Humber, scout car. Smoke grenades were to be carried, which was pretty much standard for British AFVs. Both the Daimler and Humber armoured cars (three-man crews, turret mounted main gun) had 4-inch smoke dischargers fitted.

Daimler dingo was in service into the 70s. The smoke projectors are afaik a post war addition.
If you wade through dozens of ww2 era pictures you will see none.

The crew might have grabbed some smoke grenades from somewhere. My understanding is scout cars largely depended on not being seen
not being a worthwhile target
driving pretty quick
