I agree rampaging, murderous mobs are not freedom; they are the reaction of the oppressed to the murderous gangs of the of the rulers. Let democratic reason help calm the bloodlust of revenge.

Do not mention the World Cup football result on Bastille Day. The "Spanish Ulcer" strikes back.

People of any nation can be 'revolting' at times. Just look at history. Sadly, there is and never has been a nation containing only 'nice and caring' people. And if the rulers and royalists actually stopped being selfish, uncaring and cruel, money and property loving morons, perhaps 'nice' people would not suffer and there might not be a need for further revolts. However, looking at life today, were money making and profit making make all the rules and run our lives, there certainly will be more revolts to come. I hope I'm wrong and people start caring more for each other, no matter how much money they have or properties they own. A nice world with nice caring people, that's the dream. And free wargaming miniatures for everyone. LOL

deadhead, ColCampbell, piper909 – come on, football is a sport and completely separate from politics – LOL (As if!) Beside, some of the unbelievable referee decisions or rather, unbelievable non-decisions, prove completely that the World Cup is not rigged or corrupt in any way! LOL

I am trying to imagine if POTUS has to present the trophy to Spain on Sunday. I am sure he will do it with every good grace and not continue to bear any grudge….

What is so cruel is making France play England for 3rd and 4th place on Saturday. That is crazy and absolutely no-one wants it or has the slightest interest in the result. The poor players just want to get home. But TV earnings and commercial interests dictate it.

But if you want an anthem before a game, that Marseillaise takes some beating. I can at least do the first verse in French, but have not a single word of my own national anthem in Gaelic.

deadhead – yes, it does seem pointless. After suffering the failure of being unable to win the game to reach the final, the losing and probably depressed players then have to play another game to see if they can actually gain third place! I doubt the players want it and over the years I've never known of any fans who do. But, as you, say, money speaks. Imagine if that rule was employed in wargaming competitions! LOL

So many goals in the France versus England game and so few in the Argentina versus Spain final! But it seemed like only one side in each game wanted to win. Such is life!
