Five years ago, they were golden. Fine. 👍
Then along came Ukraine and Iran.
How well do those rules work now? Next week, everything will probably change again.

Mine work fine, already included FPV drones and battlefield electronic warfare.

I knew John would start a thread like this ! 😄

I am actually in the process of writing a set for drones and electronic warfare in Ukraine. They will show the evolution of tech and tactics throughout the war. I am modeling the battle space about 30km either side of the front line.

I think one of the key takeaways is the lower realative size of the forces. Troop denisities are getting lower, weapons more lethal.

They will have to add modules to account for new weapons, tech and tactics.

I did a WIP for Drones a few years back … Not sure where I put them ?

However, I remember some of the considerations I looked at …

Drones in the air would work like aircraft. And would strike and be affected by AAA/ADA …

Some would be attack like strike aircraft, e.g. Fighter, Fighter-Bombers, etc.

Other would work like Kamikazes/one way strike.

There would be some sort of "jamming" rules …

With drones being like aircraft. The rule we used only up to 25% of your Total Battle Force rating[point costs – TBF] Could go to supporting fires e.g. off board distant batteries, Naval fires, orbital, etc.

So as a "commander" you could chose the OOB of your forces. Based on again the TBF rating which would include the size of the game/battle you want to play/fight. E.g. 1000-6000 points. E.g. an MBT Plt = 450 pts, Infantry Plt = 300 pts, etc., etc.

E.g. in a 2000 pts. TBF, 500 pts would go for supporting fire as I listed above.

Sea Drones would work similarly …

Land Drones/Robots would essentially be the same. But Jamming could be used to affect those as well. Otherwise they'd be employed the same as an AFV, etc., etc. Base on the stats of each type of weapon systems.

We also thought maybe just treat Land Drones/Robots as any vehicle on the board. And not take jamming into consideration …

That is a rough cut of what I can remember … May or may not be of any use based on the rules and scale you use …
