The position of the sword hand is very unusual. As far as I know, all Japanese sword systems have the right hand at the tsuba and the left near the kashira, regardless of which hand is dominant. The mirror amusingly shows that the woman is actually a fox, but the large picture suggests that the swordswoman is actually in view of the mirror. And what, only one fox is on guard duty and the others are too fascinated with their mistress to protect her? I know who's getting treats and who's going to the doghouse tonight. Very enjoyable diorama all around. |
