Please note: this time it is not about the battle of Turin, but about the siege of the capital of the Duchy of SAvoy. After long researches and putting together different sources I realized the first ever map concering the 4 existing supply lines or routes and the 2 hypothetical (one aborted and the second failed). Through this maps and the explaining text you will understand why the French since 1704 tried to conquer towns like Verrua, Vercelli, Crescentino the Fort of Bard. I think this little effort could make you curious about this front, that is very interesting both for wargaming and for history.

My mistake in the title the capital letters. Sorry. I crosspointed this post also in the scenarios post because it would be quite interesting for wargamers to try to recreate the ambushes that the Ducal forces did to harass the French, as well as the Encounter of Saluzzo in 1706 that represents the best example of this guerrilla stategy. |
