Robin Dews has posted on Facebook: It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to let you know that Richard ‘Orclord' Hale – founder of the Stuff of Legends website, passed away on the 1st July 2026… link |

When I was 16 (32 years ago now) and first took painting commissions I was fortunate enough to have painted a fair few figures for Richard, mainly Mithril, but did do some Citadel, a few of which made it in to the book. His passing is sad news, Richard was always a gent, treated me fairly and made time to visit when he came to the UK. RIP Richard. Craig Grady |

This is a shock. I became friends with Richard not long after moving to the East coast in '99. I was part of a collecting group with him and I also helped run some events at Games Day in Baltimore for him. The best was a 28mm scale Warmaster game we ran in… 2002? It was massive. Last we spoke at one of the HMGS cons, he told me about his health issues but was doing well. That was probably five years ago. I'm sad to find this out. RIP Orclord! |

This is sad news. Like nudespinespittle, I became friends with Richard in the late 90's and remember taking him to lunch when he attended the last GenCon that was held in Milwaukee. What a day! Over the years we bought and sold many figures between us. I will always appreciate his passion to the hobby and his kindness. RIP Orclord! |

RIP Orclord, we traded minitaures back in the 80s and 90s, great collector to chat with and I really admired his dedication to the SoL website, I seem to use that website at least once a week. He really will be missed. |
