I have an upcoming visit back East and we are planning a visit to Gettysburg. In the past we would have at least one meal at a little place on the NorthWest side of the traffic circle. In the 70's it was kinda upscale and was a treat. Last time we were there, several years ago, it was more like a Ruby Tuesdays. Any suggestions for a really good lunch spot? |

Garryowen Irish Pub Was always pretty good. Regular and Irish food. 4.6 rating on web. Been 5 years since my last visit. |

Got me. I tend to hit the Colonel Sanders' just to the east of the jumping-off point for Pickett's Charge--though I'm not sure the Colonel actually took part in the charge. |

I ate at the Blue and Grey Bar and Grill in the Southeast corner of the Circle. Food was pretty good. This was in 2023 at the time of the big reenactment, so it was pretty crowded. Nice atmosphere. |

The best meal I ever had in Gettysburg was at the Herr Tavern, but that was some years ago, and on subsequent visits found it had declined substantially. Not upscale, but Tommy's is the place to go for cheesesteak. Also not upscale but good for a sandwich is the Lincoln Diner, on Carlisle St. I recommend sitting at the counter-- don't risk a booth. |

Another plug for Garryowen Irish Pub. If you like shepherd's pie then it's a must stop. Blue and the Grey is good American pub food, and the burgers are great. The Dobbin House is also great especially for atmosphere. Food there was tasty also, although my appetite was pretty hearty after walking back and forth on the route of Pickett's Charge in 95 degree heat. |
