I have been accused (😱) , falsely I might add, of being silly thinking that the CIA engineered coup against Mossadegh was "irrelevant" in discussing Iran's contempt for The West™️.
It's what The Kids are taught! 🙄 YOU may think it's "irrelevant", but…

But it goes back further.

Yes, I'm including Soviet Russia in "the West".
But this is the archetype region for "The enemy of my enemy blah blah blah.

I find it amusing that some can bring up the millennium old 12th Imam, but ignore things like this.

Yes, the British had learned from the "hands off" policy which had backfired on them in Iraq earlier in 1941. Reza Shah had not learned. Given the British and the Soviets neither liked nor trusted one another, it's hard to believe he couldn't have cut a deal prior to the invasion.

Yet somehow the US, and neither of the two invaders, has been promoted to Great Satan. Myself, I blame US fumbling during the fall of the Shah. Standing by the Shah might have worked. Standing neutral might have worked. Backing the Shah and then standing down sent a clear two-part message: (1) the US is an enemy. (2) the US need not be feared; it's a contmptible enemy.

Cultures in the Middle East have long memories. The Crusades is still an issue for them. All of the involvement of the west in their nation over the years is still going to be an issue for Iran.

Yet the nations invaded by the radical fundamentalist Muslims from 600 on should turn the other cheek and forget?

The Central Europeans should forget their children taken and enslaved?

The west should forget that the Persians launched the invasion of the west first?

How far back does one go for justification?

The Muslims invaded what is today Europe first.

"The Muslim Invasions (Starting in 711 CE)In 711 CE, an army of Arab and Berber Muslims crossed the Strait of Gibraltar and invaded the Christian Visigothic Kingdom in Spain. Within a few years, they took control of nearly the whole region, which they called Al-Andalus. They continued expanding into Western Europe until they were stopped by Frankish forces at the Battle of Tours in France in 732 CE."

The Muslims invaded the Christian East first

"Muslim forces invaded Christian lands in the East first. In the 630s CE, newly unified Muslim armies from the Arabian Peninsula launched major military campaigns northward into the Byzantine Empire (the Eastern Roman Empire). At that time, the Byzantine territories in the Middle East and North Africa were heavily populated by Christians and had been under Christian Roman rule for centuries."

The Persians invaded the west first

"The Persian Achaemenid Empire first invaded the West (mainland Europe) in 513 BCE, when King Darius the Great crossed into Thrace and Scythia. However, the most famous invasions of the West targeting mainland Greece occurred between 492 BCE and 480 BCE."

So our justification goes back much longer and is more justified.

We can play the justification games till hell freezes over.

The radical fundamentalist Islamic regime in Iran is evil and deserves what they get, as do their citizens who brought them into power and support them. They have killed and wounded American citizens in unprovoked attacks by themselves and proxies since 79. I won't go into Israel's justification, that is their problem.

All the justification i need.

They are taught who the Good Guys are, and who the Bad Guys are. And they aren't taught to be cynical and distrustful.
You can harrumph with your Walls of Text all you want. But that is not what they are taught.
