Hey everyone,

I just posted a new article on a petition from an officer of the 17e Ligne in 1808. I was hesitant to use Gemini AI to create a picture of Vergne, but I feel it turned out decent. Not sure I will continue using it in the future.

Interesting text, Thanks.

The picture IMO is too perfect. As a historian i am in fear of fictional, not real source material, created by AI. So we shouldnt mix real sources with AI created sources. I see no problem, if a picture is obviously computer created, but a picture that would deceive everyone, who doesnt know, that photographs didnt exist in napoleonic time, strengthen the trend to fictitious sources.

Decebalus,

Thank you for your opinion, and I do believe you are correct. I typed his service record and the information I knew about him, such as his age, and the AI generated the picture. I believe the version I recently changed in the article is better and more of a graphic-novel depiction of Vergne, but I think this is the first and last time I create an image this way.
